Cannabis

What's the difference between THC and CBD?

Great question. The short answer: THC is psychoactive. Taking it (eating, drinking, or smoking it) will make you feel high. CBD is not psychoactive. It won’t make you feel high.

You won’t get high from using topicals. Even topicals with THC in them. Unless you eat your topicals. Which, um, please don’t.

If I use one of your topicals, will I fail a drug test?

No, none of our topicals will cause you to fail a drug test. For starters, the products on this website don’t contain THC, and since that’s the molecule that will cause you to fail a drug test, you’ve got nothing to worry about.

Bonus knowledge! Even if you were using one of our THC-infused topicals, you wouldn’t be at risk of failing a drug test because cannabinoids that are applied topically are unable to reach the bloodstream.

In a study by the US National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health, three volunteers applied THC topicals every two to four hours over a period of three days. Researchers did not find cannabinoids in the blood or urine of any of the volunteers.

Will your products make me feel high?

Nope! Cannabinoids that are applied topically don’t enter the blood stream and so they can’t get you high. Plus, CBD isn’t psychoactive, so relax and let our products give you nothing but sweet, sweet relief.

Do cannabis products work?

We’re legally not allowed to say, if you can believe it. Technically, we can’t even repost customer testimonials. Our products have helped a lot of people with a lot of issues, but until the FDA decides it’s worth listening to all those folks saying, “Cannabis topicals were the only thing that made my arthritis/eczema/neuropathy/sore muscles/sunburn feel better,” we have to say half-hearted things like, “Some people find that this product helped them!”

We encourage you to give our products out a try for yourself, form your own conclusions, and tell your friends. You can say that it helped you, even though we aren’t allowed to.

Topicals

How much of a topical should I use?

The good news: There’s no wrong answer. You won’t overdose on topicals.

If you’re keen for a step-by-step guide, though, do this:

1) Put a nickel-sized amount of topical (lotion, aloe gel, balm) on your skin. Rub it in. Use enough to go across the affected area, but not so much that you can’t rub it in.

2) Reapply mornings and evenings (or more, but twice a day is a good starting point).

3) Continue this regimen for at least five days. We find that topicals get more effective over sustained periods of use.

4) Experiment. Try using more. Try using less. Try using a different product, or using it on different parts of your body. Everyone will react slightly differently, so trust yourself and find what works best for you.

How long does it take for your topicals to start working?

It will vary from person to person, but effects will generally start to set in within 30 minutes. The closer the problem is to the surface of the skin, the more quickly you should notice relief. For deep pains it may take a bit longer. We recommend using the product every day for at least five days to allow the benefits to accumulate and reach their full potential!

Tinctures

How much of your tincture should I take?

For starters, a reassurance—there’s not a wrong way to take a CBD tincture. There’s no risk of taking too much CBD or overdosing. Many people have to experiment a bit until they find their perfect personal dosage, and that’s great! But if you’re just getting started and you’d like more guidance, we recommend 20 mg of CBD. Our Recover tincture contains roughly 1000 mg of CBD in the whole bottle, and Revive contains 5000 mg.

When you get your tincture bottle, take a look at the dropper. You’ll see markings along the side of the glass dropper to help you measure an exact dose. Take a look for the 1 mL marking, which is a mostly full dropper.

Recover: 1 mL = 20 mg of CBD

Revive: 1 mL = 100 mg of CBD

How do I take a tincture?

You can either dispense the measured tincture directly into your mouth or add it to a drink of your choice. You can also take it sublingually, which is a fancy word for “under your tongue.” Just squirt the dropper underneath your tongue, hold the liquid there for one to three minutes, and swish it around before you swallow. This will allow some of the cannabinoids to absorb into your bloodstream more efficiently.

How long do I have to take a tincture before I feel an effect?

You may feel an effect right away, but most people need to use their CBD tincture regularly (once or twice per day for about a week) before they notice any changes. After a week, we recommend you experiment with different dosages to see what works best for you!

High Desert Pure

How can I order your THC products?

Unfortunately, we are not legally allowed to sell THC products directly to our lovely customers. You can purchase our THC products in dispensaries across Oregon and California. To find a dispensary near you that carries our products, click here. Or consider trying one of our CBD products.

Are your products third-party tested?

Yes, they are. We believe testing our products in a third-party lab is an important part of earning your trust. You should feel confident that you’re getting a high quality, pure product.

Is the CBD used in your products legal?

Of course! All of our products are made with 99+% pure, Oregon CBD, cultivated in accordance with section 7606 of the Agriculture Act of 2014 and 2018 Farm Bill compliant. In case you want to get a little technical.

Why is the potency number on my label different from what I see on your website/what was on my last product?

Have you noticed that some topical companies always list the same potency numbers on their products? This is a red flag.

The potency of full-spectrum extract varies slightly from batch to batch, as do topicals made with full-spectrum extract. Other concentrated cannabis products—like distillate—produce consistent potency numbers, but at what cost? Distillates strip cannabis down to its most basic—and least useful—form. Unlike distillate, full-spectrum extract uses the whole cannabis plant and preserves all the healthful compounds.

We use full-spectrum extract in our topicals. The potency numbers on our website are targets, and as such, the unique numbers printed on each label might be slightly higher or lower depending on the batch.

What's the difference between HDP CBD and Radlands?

HDP CBD is our signature line of tinctures and topicals; Radlands is our new creation designed specifically for adventure-takers and outdoors-lovers. Both product lines are made in-house by the High Desert Pure team with all the same high-quality CBD.

Initially, Radlands products lived on their own website, but now you can get 'em here!

For inquiring minds, yes, this means we technically have three product lines: High Desert Pure (our THC line, sold only in Oregon and California dispensaries), HDP CBD, and Radlands. We bow down to our inventory management guru!

Our Story

Why did you start selling CBD topicals?

As it turns out, one of our founders is a pretty weak waterskier. After rupturing a disk in his back, he was nervous to turn to the opioids his doctor prescribed, which were both highly addictive and didn't manage his pain. But cannabis helped him where opioids did not. He was so excited about the relief he found with cannabis topicals that he wanted to share them with more people.

Where were you founded?

We didn’t know we were losted!

We’re based in beautiful Bend, Oregon. You can find our THC products throughout Oregon and California and you can get our CBD products online. Sorry, but current laws prevent us from selling products containing THC online.

How do you feel about the planet?

Big fans. We’re working to make our products as environmentally sustainable as possible. Most cannabis packaging (especially child-resistant packaging) is plastic. Finding recycled and recyclable child-resistant packaging is a big challenge, but it’s a challenge we’re tackling. Our lip balms and relief sticks are made of post-consumer resin; our eucalyptus balms are made of recycled glass and reclaimed ocean plastic lids. If you have a great lead on sustainable child-resistant packaging, we'd love to hear from you!

But wait, I have more questions! Can I pester you?

By all means, please do!
